A timesheet app built from your rota, not a punch clock
Your published rota is the timesheet. Every shift you publish counts towards each person's hours, the app adds them up, applies the hourly rate, and exports to Excel for payroll. No one clocks in. Free forever, at any team size.
A timesheet that keeps itself, straight from the rota
You already plan the shifts. This app turns that plan into hours, pay totals and an Excel file, without anyone tapping a clock.
The rota is the timesheet
Publish a shift and it counts towards that person's hours. There is nothing separate to fill in and no staff clocking in, so the totals match what you actually rostered.
Overnight shifts counted right
A shift from 19:00 to 03:00 is stored as one shift and its eight hours land on the correct day. You do not split it or do the sums by hand.
Hours times rate, in plain sight
Give each person an hourly rate and the timesheet shows hours worked and the pay total for the period. It is a flat hours by rate figure, easy to read and easy to check.
Export to Excel for any period
Pick a week, a fortnight or a month and download an Excel file: each person, their shifts, hours, rate and total, ready to hand to whoever runs payroll.
Change the day, fix the hours
If a shift ran short or someone stayed on, the manager edits the shift on the rota and the timesheet follows. Approved swaps move the hours to the person who covered.
One account, every location
Run one venue or a whole chain from a single login. Each site keeps its own rota and its own timesheet, with no separate spreadsheet per branch.
A timesheet without a punch clock
Most time apps ask staff to clock in and out, then chase the missed punches and the honest mistakes. InShift skips all of that. Because the timesheet is drawn from the rota you publish, the hours are known the moment you set the shifts, and you adjust them by editing the rota rather than correcting a clock. It is simpler for the team, it stays accurate, and it is free with no per-seat fee and no trial that runs out.

Is this a clock-in or punch-clock app?
No. Nobody clocks in and there is no GPS, geofence or biometric capture. The hours come from the rota you publish: every published shift counts towards each person's timesheet. If a shift changed on the day, the manager adjusts it on the rota, and the timesheet exports to Excel.
How does the timesheet know the hours if staff do not clock in?
From the shifts you publish. Each published shift has a start and end time, so its hours are already known. Add them across the period and you have the timesheet, with no punches to reconcile.
Does it handle night shifts that cross midnight?
Yes. A shift from 19:00 to 03:00 is kept as one shift and its hours are counted correctly on the right day. You never split an overnight shift or add it up by hand.
Can I export the timesheet for payroll?
Yes, to Excel, for any period you choose. The file lists each person, their shifts, hours, hourly rate and pay total, so payroll gets everything in one place. Export is Excel only.
Does it calculate overtime, night premiums or holiday pay?
No. The pay total is a flat hours by rate figure. There is no automatic overtime, night-premium or holiday-pay maths, and no working-time or payroll processing. It gives you clean hours and a simple total to work from.
Is the timesheet app really free?
Yes. The rota, the mobile app, shift swaps and the timesheet with Excel export are free with no per-seat fee, no cap on people or sites, and no trial that expires. We plan to charge only for enterprise extras (SSO, API, advanced reports). Deputy, When I Work and 7shifts bill per person past a small free tier; the honest trade-off is that we are younger and have fewer integrations.
